The writing has been funny and fast pace. The character is delightful and relatable. However, she's not growing, is still bumbling around when she should know better. It's frustrating. Women aren't stupid so I wish the character wouldn't portray that image. She's constantly forgetting her gun, and the necessary common sense just to stay safe and do her job to the best of her ability. I realize this was written many years ago but again I say, women are not stupid. We learn just as quick as men, perhaps quicker. She has no self preservation skills. It's becoming ridiculous and making me not want to invest time in her. She doesn't put obvious clues together then the story wraps up in one paragraph in the last chapter. I hope this format is tweaked because I enjoy the writing immensely and the characters. I hope the protagonist smartens up or I can't see reading the rest of the series without disappointing frustration. I love the series, have all the physical books when I decided to add the audio book. High Five and Hot Six areread by the worst narrator of any audiobook I have encountered. She is flat and speed-talks. I adore the stories, it this narrator totally ruins the experience.
